Julia’s brother: Julia, I thought I told you to stay out of my -[Art kills him with an axe]
Synopsis
Art the Clown is ready to wreak havoc on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully fall asleep on Christmas Eve. Director Damien Leone has stated that several major studios have shown interest in financing this film based on the unexpected success of Terrifier 2 (2022), even without a completed script, but he turned them all down because he is certain they would never let him shoot the opening scene himself, which he describes as “very controversial”. Leone has commented that the only reason he can be so uncompromising in his depiction of horror and gore is because he finances his films independently, creates all of the special effects himself to keep costs low, and doesn’t have a major studio breathing down his neck to make the film more mainstream. Mia mentions that the 5th anniversary of the original massacre was approaching soon, but it happened on Halloween and this film set on Christmas 5 years later would mean the anniversary just passed 2 months ago.
Next up is Terrifier (2016)
There is an uncut version of the movie that runs 2 hours and 25 minutes with 5 additional scenes. A Work of Art Written by Drew Fulk, Joe Occhiuti, Paul Wiley, Spencer Charnas and Steve Sopchak Starring Ice Nine Kills and Shavo Odadjian. If you’re looking for blood look no further! Terrifier 3 had all the blood we wanted!
However, if I’m being honest, none of the kills topped the salt scene in Terrifier 2
Overall I would say there were more kills and blood than the second movie, but none of the kills (even the main one) were as over the top as the second movie. One more thing, half of the kills were left for you to imagine, as half of them happen off-screen or have already happened when the camera pans to the scene. This was a huge disappointment as a lot of the “major kills” should have been shown as they were supposed to be exciting. In terms of plot, I think I enjoyed the second movie more because the pacing of this movie was a bit off.
Lastly, the last 20 minutes really let me down
Between the time jumps, Sienna’s storyline, and Art’s storyline, the pacing just wasn’t right. It also did very little to build up Art or Sienna’s story. It just felt like there was a lot of dead time between each kill. You also never really build an emotional connection in this movie with any of the characters, aside from Sienna.
Overall, I would say that Terrifier 2 was better
Almost none of the kills were shown on screen and trust me, those kills should have been shown. Art the Clown, Pennywise, and Killer Klowns are just a few of the comical creatures that give us the creeps. Check out the most terrifying clowns that have graced the screen.
